Launching this week in your communities… @here
The Tightknit Thread Responder!
You’ve told us you want better ways to teach new users how to use Slack. Soon, you’ll be able to activate channels that auto-warn members who don’t reply in thread, gently guiding them to thread like pros.
We expect this feature to go live for all communities tomorrow.
All feedback welcome, especially on the language in the responder. Feel like it could be A LOT more fun. Please vote
on your favorites in the thread (THREADS FOR PRESIDENT
)
And please feel free to share this LinkedIn message with the communities who need this the most!
So it triggers when someone posts twice in a channel back to back?
Exactly!
How does it pick up if someone doesn’t respond in a thread if it is just one post?
Let me know if this is not what you’re asking but it resets every 60 seconds so as long as you don’t post sequentially in 60 seconds, it won’t trigger. We find that within 60 seconds a lot of people meant to respond in thread and not as a second post.
Got it! Oh so it will trigger if anyone posts twice in 60 seconds then? So if you post, and i post right after (not in thread) it triggers?
Ah got it. I guess so it only works for the individual posting then? Still a cool v1 of this
Ya no AI under the hood yet but we do want to do some message recognition in the future. Should still cover 90% of the messages that we all know and love like this:
Hey I need help Help me This is my problem But I’m going to post it all as separate messages Because I don’t know Slack
Yeah ++ to max as well. When I see a thread of unthreads from different parties I curse under my breath very loudly
OH EM GEE
Will I be able to use this???
everyone else, yes
😠
starting in a few hours
so you have me until then 🙂
thank you
Might be a silly question, but can you customize the bot’s name at all? Not taking on a member’s name, but like giving it a name related to the community? I’m sharing back with another community that’s just now testing out Tightknit, and that was a question that came up. And also if the language in the responder might see updates Zach H.
giving it a name related to the community?
It should already adopt the bot community name! You can find these settings in Community > General for community name and bot image.
And also if the language in the responder might see updates
What updates to the language are you interested in?
Ah! Ok—now I’ve got it, that probably needs to be set up. The language, not sure yet, but I’ve shared across the video clip, so I’ll share anything specific that comes back. The language you’ve added I thought was just right for RWIT though. We do have more than a few members who are slack newbies. Thank you!
What would you say is the expected action on the posters side? To delete and repost in thread?
+1 to Shannon! Unless there’s a way to automate the move?
