Introducing the Tightknit Thread Responder for Better Slack Usage

Launching this week in your communities… @here The Tightknit Thread Responder! You’ve told us you want better ways to teach new users how to use Slack. Soon, you’ll be able to activate channels that auto-warn members who don’t reply in thread, gently guiding them to thread like pros. We expect this feature to go live for all communities tomorrow. All feedback welcome, especially on the language in the responder. Feel like it could be A LOT more fun. Please vote on your favorites in the thread (THREADS FOR PRESIDENT )

This looks super cool! So it triggers when someone posts twice in a channel back to back? How does it pick up if someone doesn't respond in a thread if it is just one post?

Exactly!
How does it pick up if someone doesn’t respond in a thread if it is just one post?
Let me know if this is not what you’re asking but it resets every 60 seconds so as long as you don’t post sequentially in 60 seconds, it won’t trigger. We find that within 60 seconds a lot of people meant to respond in thread and not as a second post.

Got it! Oh so it will trigger if anyone posts twice in 60 seconds then? So if you post, and i post right after (not in thread) it triggers?

Yes only if the same person posts in a channel within 60 seconds. So if I post, you post, and then I post (3 messages) and that was all within 60 seconds, then only I will get a message that says thread it 🧵 It’s rudimentary for now but we’ll improve it over time!

Ya no AI under the hood yet but we do want to do some message recognition in the future. Should still cover 90% of the messages that we all know and love like this:
Hey I need help Help me This is my problem But I’m going to post it all as separate messages Because I don’t know Slack

Agreed! I guess with that it isn't a "thread" as much as it is reminding folks to just get everything out in 1 post instead of multiple. slack ux definitely contributes to this!

Yeah ++ to max as well. When I see a thread of unthreads from different parties I curse under my breath very loudly
