Activating Channels in Slack for Tight-knit Usage

·
·

hey, can someone help me do we need to activate each channel on Slack to use Tight-knit? I’ve been adding channels, but they’re not showing up. The only one I see is #tightknit-test.

Hey Shubhangini! Yes, today, you’ll need to activate each channel on Slack where you want to post. We are looking at making it easier in the future, but for now that is the process. Let me know if that helps answer your question!

could you help me know how to activate channels?

    Absolutely:

    1. 1.

Search for the Tightknit app in your community. You’ll find the App Home page that lists our various modules. Are you admin for the space? That will be a requirement

    2. 2.

Then scroll to the bottom to Activate a Channel. Reference the photo in my last message.

    3. 3.

Follow the steps to activate the channel (should be one single step as you won’t need to go through the full Feeds onboarding)

Let me know if you run into any blockers. Always happy to hop on a huddle

Zach H.! Quick question—if we want to tweak the copy for the weekly webinar announcements, do we need to create new events with updated copy each time? Or can we simply edit the copy in the existing published event, update it, and republish? Let me know, thanks!

also is there an option to schedule this for later?

You can edit the event! There is a message shortcut called Edit Event (the three dots when you hover over a message) that allows you to Edit an Event. You can also always get to it with /events or finding it Tightknit app home.

also is there an option to schedule this for later?

No schedule feature (yet) but we do support saving it as a Draft so that you can come back to it when you’re ready to publish. Drafts you can find with the dropdown on the Events modal

Hey Zach H.! It's me again—I’ve got a couple of quick questions for you.

    1. 1.

How can we delete an event from Tightknit?

    2. 2.

Do you have any resources or guides that show how to use Tightknit from the ground up? We’d love to share something like that with our community to help them get familiar with using Tightknit events.

    Thanks a ton! 😊

If you find the event in the Events list, you should see an option on the dropdown to Delete the event!

We don’t have anything available yet but here are a few things that might help:

Thanks, another thing i just wanted to mention is something I noticed while using Tightknit. I posted a post on the 10th in our AI Technology channel, and today i shared it in the Events channel and updated one of our speaker names. But when I did that, I saw that the post I made on the 10th got automatically deleted. Any idea why that happened? Zach H.

That’s not good! Could you check in the Events Edit modal that the channel is still included on the event? It’s possible that when editing the event, the channel was removed. We’ll have to check if maybe there’s a bug on our end that removed the event. I’ll be sure to check for you.

I removed the channel because I wanted to promote the event across different channels on different days. If I duplicated the event, it would show up multiple times on the calendar. so I posted it in the AI channel on the 10th, and now I need to post it in the Events channel today. So, I removed the AI channel and added the Events channel instead. Did I do something wrong?

Thanks Shubhangini! Had my response in draft. You didn’t do anything wrong! We just remove the event when you remove it. Here’s the tactic to take next time:

    • Add the event in the channel where you first want to promote it.

    • When you’re ready to add the event to another channel, Edit the event, and add the second channel (do not remove the first channel). Click save and then your event should be shared in both! 🙌

Does this match what you’re trying to achieve?

Oh, so that means if I promote the event on a different channel the second time, the promotion will still go out to the first channel I added, right?

The event will only be shared on the second channel after save. We do not send another message in the channel in which you’ve already promoted the event. I believe this is what you’re hoping for.
