Exporting Private Slack DMs: Manual Request Insights

random question 🙂 is there a way to API export/extract private slack DMs without using a bot? looks like you have to request it manually through admin interface.

There is a way but you would need to have Business+ or above to download DMs https://slack.com/help/articles/201658943-Export-your-workspace-data

Nice! Thanks. Doesn't look like that's API though just manual... right?

Correct. On Enterprise you can do this via the Ediscovery API or via a Single User Export but on Business Plus it would be a large JSON file dump of DMs, channels, etc.
