Creating Links for External Members in Your Slack Community Channel

·
·

Hi everyone, I have a Slack question, hoorray! I started a Slack community a few moths ago and I feel I am kind of stuck - lack of knowledge, and maybe Tightknit has the solution here. This is the situation: currently it's a free account with less than 50 members, with a couple of channels. I want to be able to add members from external orgs to 1 specific channel. I want to create a link for that. Is this possible?

    Hey Yonit Kraushar great question!

I want to be able to add members from external orgs to 1 specific channel. I want to create a link for that.

One way to do this would be making all other channels private if the list isn’t too extensive. There is a concept of single-channel guests but they only exist on paid plans. Learn more here. What’s the use case so we can elaborate further?

Thank you - and then when the channel is private, does that mean I can create an separate invite link for it? Or is it email-based?

You can only create invite links for the workspace. You’d have to add the user to the channel individually. If the use case is 1-1 customers, I’d recommend Slack Connect through an employee workspace.
