Issue with Adding Feeds and Missing Feed Settings

·
·

I’m having an issue with adding feeds. All the new feeds I added today don’t have “feed settings” in the drop down and aren’t creating the feed site. Def could be user error but any help would be appreciated 🙂

Hey Shannon O.! There is actually a pre-requisite to creating feeds which is activating Tightknit in a channel, and that's actually what you've been doing! The two steps are:

    1. 1.

Activate Tightknit for a channel (you've already done this step). This lets you turn on certain Slack-specific features for the channel, like anonymous posting.

    2. 2.

Create a Feed for the channel. This hooks the channel up to a feed on the companion site.

You can do #2 by selecting the Create Tightknit Feed option in the dropdown in your screenshot. For more info, check out our docs on Feeds! Let me know if that helps.

That’s what I get for multitasking. All set :)

For what it's worth, you're not the first to ask this. It has made us consider automatically doing step #1 for all public channels in the workspace when Tightknit is first set up. Or at least give the admin the option to do this during onboarding. When you were doing step #1 to activate the channel, were you clicking that green + Activate Channel button?

Yes I was clicking that one. It would be great to get a drop down to select which channels you want to activate instead of manually having to do each step for each one. Unless there is an alternative I missed here!

Shannon O. That's exactly the UX we were thinking! It doesn't exist yet, but I'm marking down the feedback 🙂
