Is there any chance we'll be able to see people using the Slack workspace and DMing each other in activity in Studio? We're getting signals that our users are DMing each other heavily and not engaging in spaces, so would be keen to see this somehow.
Yea Joel is exactly correct, you can see the percentage and volume of activity happening in DMs in the Slack Workspace analytics, but Slack prevents us from seeing any specific messages
But could we see them as active members in Studio analytics? Don't need to see their exact messages
Alex W. it's possible we could add "something" but it won't be perfect. Natasha K. what we would do is request docs.slack.dev/reference/methods/team.billableInfo the billableinfo api to see if the user is marked "billable" - they are billable if they've opened the workspace in the last month. Alex, we won't be able to tell you if they sent a DM but we should be able to tell you if they are "semi-active". Would that be helpful? However, I do think, we should at least link to the Slack Analytics page from our Analytics page today. That would save Alex a few extra searches + clicks to find things. This would be a small story. Linear Asks can you make two product feedback requests for Relevance here?
This is also available in the workspace analytics, I believe, to see who is active in the last month โ doesn't help that it's in a separate system though where you can't act on it from a community management POV though. Just saying it's available, if you're not aware.
Zach H. I will say that having the "active" status in Tightknit would be helpful. I actually count all active users from Slack in my active user counts because I still believe they get value from seeing content and discussions in the community. If we only focus on actual engagements, then we're not getting the whole picture. I have a weekly metrics sheet that I update and I've now outsourced this to Google Apps Scripts and scheduled tasks in ChatGPT. Since I can't get that active metric from Tightknit directly, I'm getting my agent to pull it from the Slack analytics page, but pulling my member growth and total engagements from the Tightknit MCP
Thanks for sharing Beth S.! Super interesting use case too. Would you mind sharing a "redacted" version of that report with us in a DM? Or even better give a little bit of info in Best Practices so we can all learn from ya
