I'm new to Tightknit. When I demo'd with Zach, I thought he showed that you could embed code/content into a space in the sidebar of the companion site. But I can't seem to find this anywhere. What am I missing?
Hi Mary! There are two embedded-related features he might have been referring to:
Embed a component from the Tightknit site into your own site - if, for example, you wanted to show Tightknit's feed on your own web page of another site, you can do so with our embed URLs (read more).
Embed your own web page into the Tightknit site - if you'd like one of your own web pages to be embedded within the Tightknit site, you can do so by setting up an internal link in the Navigation Menu (read more).
Let me know which one you're interested in and if you'd like any more assistance!
I think it was like Mixpanel's events, which aren't all through Tightknit?
Maybe I'm confused or still figuring this out. TY for the help.
Yes, that would be the second listed feature then! If you find the Navigation button under the "Companion Forums Site" section in the Tightknit settings, you'll find the ability to add new navigation menu items. If you want to embed your own web page as a sidebar item, the format will be:
<Your Sidebar Item Name> | <url> | <url-slug>
For example:
Terms of Service | https://www.my-site.com/tos | terms-of-service
The next step will be validating that the web page you are embedding can give permission to Tightknit to embed its content on our site. It's a part of what's called the Content Security Policy (CSP). We can go more in depth into that if you discover problems in the embedding.
We are going to import events into the past events page with links to youtube recordings instead.
