Issues with Slack Invite Links and Solutions for Community Sign-ups

Does anyone else have this issue when sharing invite links to join your Slack community (see attached image)? It seems to happen at random and I cannot for the life of me pinpoint when/why it happens. One case I think I've identified is that we include the URL in our Luma follow up emails and I think it happens there because Luma automatically adds UTM tracking to the URL. Otherwise I have no idea. I'll get messages random being like "I need an Amplitude email to sign up, do you have a different link?" It's super frustrating!! I'm going to look into creating a sign up form that people can fill out and then redirect them to our join link as that seems to be what a lot of people are doing for Slack communities. Are you dealing with this issue? How do you get people to sign up for your Slack community?
Can't find your community on slofile.com I might need a form too
Hmm! I haven't run into this when sharing invite links before. I know some can expire, but not where they have to enter a company domain email to access. I wonder if it is in workspace settings where it might restrict sign up access?
It's not a consistent issue though which is what I don't understand. We have a bit.ly link that we regularly redirect (https://bit.ly/cohort-community) to get around the expiring URLs but occasionally it will switch to this. I'll rediredct the URL again and then it works. But in the instance today, the URL I copy from the Luma email shows as the attached image, but if you visit the bit.ly directly it works ๐คท
It does look like my link invite settings switched back to expire after 28 days despite previously changing it to never expire. Maybe that could be part of the reason for recent issues. But it still happens periodically and seemingly at random. I just don't understand why we can't have an invite link that never expires!!
hmm that is strange!!
And I can ask additional questions upon sign up to help me tailor community programs which is a nice plus
Beth S. it could be something switched under your feet, but I find that this helps:
Make sure to update your link every month or biweekly (depends on the growth of the community). It expires after 400 successful invites.
Ensure that it's always set to Unlimited on the timespace (as you mentioned).
Sometimes it's human error and sometimes Slack changes things that can mess things up. I'm going to provide this feedback to the product team next time I meet with them.
Coming back to this thread to rant a little more in hopes that you can pass on this feedback to the Slack team, Zach H. ๐ I'm finding it impossible to use a QR code generator to work with the Slack join link. I can only seem to get it to direct people to the attached image. I've tried using the QR code option on my bitly links and https://www.qr-code-generator.com and nothing I do seems to work. I'm now going the form for sure because there are just too many dead ends, making it really annoying to get people to join. I don't understand why they make it so hard...
