I used the built in Tightknit Events feature on Slack for the first time and I'm obsessed! Love that it allows you to RSVP within Slack, lets you create a Calendar invite, AND it prompts you to add a recap and then allows you to send it to the Channels you first sent the event to and to DM it to folks who RSVPed ๐ Well done team! My only request: Can we also build in an auto-reminder 1 hour, 1 day, 1 week in advance? (Maybe that's a toggle so not every event has all 3 but there's an option to have it?) Built in Slack reminder that can be sent directly to RSVPs would be epic.
Isn't there a 10min reminder before it begins?
^We do indeed have a 10 min reminder! What I'm hearing from Jocelyn H. is to build on this to:
Make it toggle-able per event
Make the time interval configurable
Allow multiple pre-event reminders at different intervals?
Is that a good summary?
(to the point that I forgot it existed lol)
To add more of the /why/ or thinking behind the request and maybe it'll affect how you implement:
The 10 minute reminder is great and it is last second (but in a good way) for people who know it's coming up and just need a reminder that "hey it's about to start! wrap up whatever you're doing in prep. here's the link in your slack notifs again"
I'd love an earlier reminder like 1 day or 1 hour for folks who RSVPed in case they did that like 3 weeks ago and need a jog in memory that this is happening
Separately, where the more like 2 days or 1 week+ reminders come is more like... to the community at large "hey we have this event coming up that you might be interested in!" (vs i feel like the 10 min to 24 hour reminders are to people who already RSPVed) Does that make sense?

Are you thinking a public reminder (e.g. post in a channel) or a private mass DM to your members?
probably post in channel! private mass DM feels a wee heavy handed for most events haha
Thank you thank you! Honestly though, this feature is fantastic. I was really surprised by the Recap reminder, like really pleasantly surprised, and that's such a nice, thoughtful touch. It's rare for a software to be like "hey you should maybe do this best practice thing" and then help you get it done.
