hey team what is the best way to create events so that your companion site has the event populating sent from your main user account to the "newest" section , any best tips or tricks to creating events without the bot?
Great question Eli A.. A little backstory... We have an old limitation that the Tightknit bot's own messages cannot be synced to the companion site. Initially this was because Tightknit was sending a lot of "notification" style messages that wouldn't be valuable on the site, and we had first class support for objects related to the message, such as Events which get their own separate page. But as you've suggested, there's still value for admins who want their Slack channel messages to closely reflect their Tightknit feed posts, bot posts and all. So we have an upcoming project to allow syncing Tightknit bot messages to the site! This feature would let that event announcement in Slack also appear as a post on the site.
There is a workaround. You can manually use the Post to Site message shortcut on the Tightknit bot's message. However, first you must add Tightknit in your list of allowed bots; instructions: https://docs.tightknit.ai/companion-site/profiles/allowed-bots
Stephen C. i dont see the HYROS COMMUNITY bot under select bot profiles, additionally i just deleted the bot post + copied the message to get it appear in my feed, is there a way to get the bot to post the recap again
You'll want to allow the "Tightknit" bot. That's actually your Hyros bot behind the scenes
now that ive done that Stephen C. is there a way to readd the recap so it posts as the community bot or do i need to wait for the next event?
hey Stephen C. im still running into an issue where i cant post as the bot even when i use the shortcut? (this post has already been posted from the slack kit builder but i wanted it posted as the hyros community bot)
Hey Eli A., the "Post to Site" shortcut is simply a way to manually send a Slack message to the companion site, as-is. It does not convert a message to be a community bot post.
We do have a ticket on the roadmap for improved messaging capabilities, which would allow you to send any message as the community bot.
ah thanks for the clarification Stephen C. i couldnt figure that out in the docs. so currently how would i post as the bot, just strictly thru the api?
Yes that's correct
