hey team! Why won't my community preview show on social media?
Hey Eli A., great question. There are a couple settings to check. In the Tightknit slack app home, locate the Companion Site section > General settings:
Ensure you have uploaded a Social Image. This is the image displayed in social media link previews. Pro Tip: Check out our branding guide for a template.
Ensure you have checked Enabled SEO indexing of the site. This allows bot/crawler access to your site. If you do not allow this, the link preview crawler will not be able to discover and display your site's social image.
By the way, I found these link previewer tools to be helpful when troubleshooting:
thank you it was the enabled SEO indexing that wasn't switched on!
i uploaded this resized image at 1200 x 279 (below the recommend dimensions) and am not understanding what is incorrect Stephen C.
The recommended social preview image dimensions are 1200 x 627 px. Many social media sites like LinkedIn and Facebook will actually cut off your images if they exceed that.
Eli A. Do you have access to the original assets to create a new image so it isnt squished?
yes its right here Stephen C.
now its updated w the image community.hyros.com
hey Stephen C. im noticing that links to internal pages ( https://community.hyros.com/x/change-log/pyhkp8e7ssjg/hyros-version-26-updates-custom-cost-naming-new-lo) dont carry over the social thumbnail? is it possible to either show the social image provided or the first image on the page?
i see it works in slack but not on x Stephen C.
Hey Eli, To your first point, the generated preview will include your first image in the post, if any. We can look into the X/FB issues. In next week's release, we are revamping the performance of the preview image server, so hopefully that will resolve some issues.
