I'm getting questions on the engagement metric calculation. It looks like it's based on what's connected in the companion site, is that correct? Is there a way that I can include private slack channels in these metrics?
Hey Cheyenne R., the analytics should include any channel that Tightknit has been activated in, regardless of public or private. This step alone does not mean the channel is connected to the site. You'd have to also create a Feed for that to happen.
Has Tightknit been activated in those private channels?
No, the private channels didn't have the app. I just added it, is that all that's needed or do I have to go through and select activate?
for more context I don't need these on the companion site but I do want them in the metrics

Once you invite the Tightknit app to a channel, you'll be prompted to activate the channel. Alternatively, in the Tightknit app settings, you'll see a + Active Channel button that you can click to select a specific channel to activate.

That's the correct understanding! To be clear these are the two levels of channel operations:
Activate the channel -> required for Tightknit to ingest data and use in analytics
Connect the channel to a Feed -> required to sync the data to the companion site
You totally can, especially to get a holistic perspective of activity in your workspace!
However, there are some privacy limitations around connecting a private channel to a Feed. Let us know if you think you have this use case.
Absolutely! We run our beta testing programs in private channels, so def need that tied into the analytics. We don't need those in the feed though, so this works great! ty
