Does anyone have a good benchmark for engagement rate for Slack communities cc Zach H.
But yeah, it is so hard to benchmark these things because different industies, sizes, community numbers, etc. all plays a part! I also think some benchmarks can set you up to fail because if it can then be held against you for not achieving x. I'd say depending on the size of community, get 1-2 years of data to benchmark what your engagement rate has been and measure against that
That saidβ¦. lol we wouldnβt use it for goaling of any purpose but if there was a range, what would it be π
Numbers I am seeing out in the world are 2-12%
My hunch would be 5-15% of total members would be classified as MEUs
Yeah so aligned there!
It's often surprisingly accurate Shannon O.. The goal should be to move from one to another, and to figure out how to get them. Surprising how often folks want better engagement than most SaaS typically convert at. For example:
Free to visitor β Typically 2β5%. Top-performing SaaS sites push 7β10%
Visitor β Paid Customer: Much lower β usually 1β2% of total site visitors.
Free Trial β Paid: This is where the real game is. Opt-in free trials convert around 8β15%. Opt-out trials (credit card required upfront) hit 25β60%, but attract fewer signups to begin with.
And I forgot to share that Feverbee has a pretty good resource too: https://www.feverbee.com/communitybenchmarks/
Yeah Max P. and Joel P. I think it makes total sense to be looking at your own growth, etc. but I wanted to make sure I was getting accurate info for our new hire! She is joining us from outside of a community role but depth in the space, just like how I started. So when you see 8% you think something is massively wrong when really youβre right on track of not above lol
Totally get it but you're doing great and am seeing the ACEs posts on LinkedIn which are great β keep it up, Shannon O. ![]()
Thank you Joel P.! We are expanding that program a lot infrastructure wise in the next bit + adding more chapters so our new teammate Cecilia is taking on our RecOps slack community I was previously owning amongst a few other things! More community initiatives woo!!
