Strategies for Engaging Busy Tech Execs in New Community

Hi everyone! I'm just getting started here. Launching my community on Wednesday October 1. Its called the Conscious Leadership Collective and its intended to be a "wellness" oriented community for leaders. Most of the people joining are busy tech execs (VP+) - busy being the operative word. I have a kick-off call scheduled but its really hard to find a time that works for people since we are working across US/EMEA time zones during the work day. *Curious for those who may have experience or best practices to share about creating strong engagement early.* I'm doing the first month free and moving to paid next month so I guess I'm feeling the pressure to create value out the gate since I know how important that is to a successful community.

Some thoughts:
Is a call necessary? Can you communicate the key message(s) async? What do they gain from the kickoff call vs. you gain, essentially why should they prioritize it?
Onboarding is done via email or a series of DMs
Host 2-3 calls for them to select from so they can pick the one that’s best for them vs making them go to the one that’s best for you
Just a few thoughts on it.

Thanks Joel - I like the idea of multiple calls - but its a small group right now so was worried about only having a few people on each call. Likely will record the call for however many people join and will post for all to watch when they have time. I recorded an onboarding video I sent via email and created a flow using Slack workflow (although I realized they put me on a trial for their upgraded edition so likely will end this after the trial expires).

I had a similar launch challenge in recent past and established a principled approach. The trick as you know is to reduce scheduling friction while giving them micro bursts of high ROI value. The moment they get one tool or resource that makes their leadership day easier, they’ll see the value of sticking around and paying next month. How are you thinking about the giving they will receive? Are they seeking 1:1 peer specific connections, a particular actionable resource, or increasing a batched network? What has them desparately in need of your services initially that will keep them coming back for more?

Ryan G. love your approach. There are a variety of reasons why people joined, community/connection, accountability, access to practices (breathwork/meditation, etc). Connection and relationship building feels like the most important thing which is why calls are important but also the challenge. I'm going to sit with your suggestion around microbursts of high ROI value and begin dropping those in. I had a great week actually - 10 people showed up for the initial call!
