Tightknit Platform Update: Introducing Groups & Permission Sets!
Reading time: 2 minutes
Tightknit Release Notes (June 14, 2024) Groups & Permission Sets Today, we're excited to unveil an incredibly powerful set of features that will give new capabilities to all areas of the Tightknit platform: π₯ Groups and π Permission Sets! With Groups you can define a segment of up to 30 of your users. You will be able to mass DM all of these users (coming soon!) and grant them permissions by assigning a Permission Set to the Group. A Permission Set, as the name implies, is a pool of possible permission and privileges you can prescribe to a person or persons. Today, we support Event-related permissions but expect many more in the future! For example, let's say you want to manage your community's event champions (users that are allowed to create/edit events alongside admins). You would:
- 1.
Create a new Permission Set with the "Events Champion" permission
- 2.
Create a new Group with your desired set of users
- 3.
Assign the Permission Set to the Group
VoilΓ - you're done! Your group's users will be notified they have been added to the group, along with onboarding steps on how best to use their specific new permissions in Tightknit. For more info on this process, check out our docsβ. Note: Groups and Permission Sets will replace the previous version of our Event Champions system. If you were using this before, we have already created an identical Group + Permission Set for you in your community. π Updates:
Groups and Permission Sets admin settings are now found under the Community module section in the app home π (though they may find a different home in the future!)
Changes to users' built-in profile fields are automatically synced to the profile on the companion site (does not include custom profile fields)
Increased event title character limit from 70 to 100
