Streamlining Event Sharing and Registration in Slack

I struggle with Events. I like to share them multiple times before the actual event, but there is no quick link to do so and include the register option. I have to go to the companion site, get the link, then share it in a new post, and even then they go to the site, not just stay in slack and register.

Hey Mary, let me see if I'm understanding correctly. The initial event announcement that is sent in Slack -- you'd like to repeat that message multiple times?

Yes. This way if people miss it, I have a place to send them (if it's a link) or a way to put the register button in front of them again, in our discussion.

What places would you send this message? Multiple times in the same channel, different channels, DMs?

Any of the above. Right now if I reshare the link to the event, they have to click through to register, the register button doesn't show.

I see the pain point. Yes, unfortunately most interactive elements are lost on Slack when you share/forward a message. We've voiced our complaints to them about this.

So, I just post the event once and TightKnit reminds them when they register but what I do to share again is talk about it and then just link to the post where they register for it with the TightKnit register button

I also DM that same link when I’m promoting registrants. I had to include steps like step 1 open the message step 2 click the green register button 3 add to your calendar, but I agree would be nice to have a link that you can Dm that allows them to click register direct in the Dm without all the steps. For sharing it into other channels, you could start with one channel for the first post. Then go in and edit the event and add another channel. It will then add a new message to that channel with the event. Maybe that will work as a work around for you, Mary G.?

It does work for a work around. I just have scroll back each time and find the link.

I'm thinking we could have a feature like "Remind" that would be a smaller lighter weight version of the event that might also link back to the original event post. We'll have to play with some ideas/options

Dream state would be to work like workflows do where you can link in messages and post in multiple places and the button pops up to click and sign up - but with how slack works sounds like that isn’t really doable

Well you can post Events across multiple channels today (I think we support 10 channels). But ya nothing like the workflow links that exist today.

Yes!! I discovered this recently and plan to use the event multiple post to channels next week!
