Ok got a weird two parter:
Who’s got if-you-know-you-know recommendations on slack marketplace apps that have free/freeium tiers, play nice with Tightknit, and just make life better?
Who’s used AI to mine slack channels to capture best practices, troubleshooting, how tos, changes, etc — and add them to a wiki, or digital success library, or Figma, GitHub, more? Like slack-comms-as-intranet builder? (Is any of this even possible, lol? 😅 )
We work with a bunch of apps in the marketplace, but you might need to be clearer on “make life better” as that’s a very broad statement
Oddly, a user added Donut to our Slack. I have no idea how that happened, but def going to explore it a bit more. 😆 Looks like it works well and the free tier does a good bit of stuff to connect members.
😅 good point Zach H. — I think 1) if you have partners that have free/freeium tier, together on a page, channel, blog—I want to bookmark it. And 2) beyond that, insider recommendations on apps known for doing something cool towards comms/connection beyond the amazing stuff Tightknit does. (So far, I’m using or researching: Donut, Shuffl, Matter, Standup.ly, Nectar, Motivosity, Awardco, Notion, Trello, Hive, Cloverpop, Mindmup, Tettra, Ricotta, Gratitudely, Random Coffees, Coffee Roulette, Braid, and Trivia. Whew!) I’m looking to see how much use of the 9 additional app slots for free as I can. While (thank you Stephen C. 😊) also looking at using one slot for a custom app built in slack blocks.
Cheyenne R. love Donut! I’ve got it for one channel, Shuffl for another, and maybe looking for more. 😊 🙌
Scott B. thank you!! I’m checking this out. Who knew I’d be building a tech slack and learning json stepping into community building/success! I’m working on finishing a mock build of the slack with beta testers so that I can do demos instead of going inch by inch. I wonder, would you like to see it? I’d love your take. 😊
You’re welcome. Happy to take a peek.
And Scott B. I have a bit of a puzzler—we’ve built a big tent community without a lot of top down hierarchy, that spans every intersection of retail (in the commerce sense) and tech. People have conversations here they wouldn’t have anywhere else. So I want to protect that, and think another layer down about channel names/purposes.
So I’m thinking about where things get double posted, and I’m thinking about where I need channels to provide context, provide safety. So I’d love to hear what another builder notices.
Also, I’d love to invite you into Retail Women in Tech, as you are exactly the kind of ally we’re trying to bring to our group! And it might prove useful in your search too! 😊
