Should Community Members Be Allowed to Add Custom Emojis?

We have our views but we'd love your take!
Do you believe your community members should be able to add their own custom emojis?
We're building some onboarding guides and i'd love some quotes for both sides of the argument! CC Maddy B.

I think it is great for community engagement, but there should probably be a notification that someone created one just to double check for appropriateness (this will obvi depend on community). Would admins be able to toggle this permission on/off?

yes, they should! i support whats been said too. visibility for appropriateness, but also just for fun/curiosity reasons; wanting to see the latest ones uploaded (i.e. the sentiment of "finally someone made a dancing aardvark emoji!")
i like it when members can add their own emojis! slack does show you /who/ added one so you could reach out to someone if they add something inappropriate. i think a notif via tightknit hub would be helpful in terms of monitoring that. i love an inside joke slack emoji / react!! and it's fun to add the usual party parrots or lolsobs or shocked pikachu. my caveats here are: i've only managed smaller (sub 2k) slack communities. i think if i were managing like a 5k+ one, i might not allow it. but also depends on the nature of the group!! slack communities tend to be more professional driven and most people are there with their real names, tied to their careers, so there's often more maturity (in comparison to something like discord)
Yes! Love โem. Had them in a small communities and in 10k+ communities. Like Jacob, great to have a mix โ ones from the company/brand, the inside joke stuff, and the usual ones.
I think this is a great time-bound addition. For example, add an emoji day as a shout out to the community or some kind of event. Give people 24 hours and then you can vet and decide if you want to open it up again.
Emojis are essential to every community and its culture. Without the ability to add the right emoji for the moment, how would we properly express ourselves?!
